Pacental Mamals Meaning

PACENTAL MAMALS MEANING

I think you mean placental mammals.

Placental mammals belong to the classification of mammals by circumstances of birth. These include:

  • Egg-laying mammals - These are rare mammals that give birth to eggs that hatch outside of the body of the mother. This includes the duck-billed platypus.
  • Placental mammals - This is the group of mammals where us humans belong. Placental mammals nourish their young in a structure called placenta during the gestational period. The placenta provides safety for the offspring and cushions it with a fluid to reduce the shock absorbed by the young developing offspring. Examples are dogs, cats, dolphins, whales, elephants, etc.
  • Pouched mammals or marsupials - Marsupials care for their young in the small pouches they have in their bellies. The most famous example of which is the kangaroo. After birth, the young usually clings onto the pouch of the back of the mother. Another example is the koala.

Remember that despite the differences, all of the aforementioned are still mammals. They all have backbones, body covering made of fur or hair, are warm-blooded, and most importantly, they all produce milk through their mammary glands to feed their young.  All of these characteristics define mammals.
